MFC Awarded 74 Additional Maine Schools and Libraries Sites, Total of 191 Now Served on MFC Fiber.
MFC responded to the 2018 Maine Schools and Libraries Network (MSLN) Request for Proposal earlier this year. The bid process was designed to identify the optimal broadband provider for close to 800 MSLN sites throughout Maine, and awards are based primarily on bandwidth capability and cost. Prior to this year’s bid, MFC was serving 117 schools and libraries, and the additional 74 sites awarded bring the total served by MFC to 191. Infrastructure provision for Community Anchor Institutions like schools, libraries, hospitals and municipalities was envisioned for the ‘Three Ring Binder’ from it’s inception, and this award confirms the value of the original public/private investments that created MFC’s open-access dark fiber network in Maine. We look forward to building out to these new locations and serving more of Maine’s important educational institutions!
